My name is Lu Li, the founder of the Blooming Founders.
Blooming Founders is a business social network for early stage female entrepreneurs.
It’s a place where ambitious women can get feedback on their business ideas, learn how to build a sustainable business, get focus and meet like-minded people in a friendly, collaborative environment.
I am building this network mainly because I didn’t had one to go to, when I needed it.
I never planned to become an entrepreneur. I was 28 years old when I decided to leave my corporate career. Until this point, I was living my life trying to achieve what other people expected from me. Things were going well at first: academic scholarships, graduating with distinction, working for top notch firms like McKinsey & Company and Procter & Gamble. I was ticking all the boxes. My parents were proud.
But after a few years, I got stuck climbing the corporate ladder and I realised that if I didn’t take charge of my own life, someone else will and I might end up somewhere where I didn’t want to be. I pulled the plug and thought: “I want to create my own future with my own business!” Little did I know what I was doing.
Being a solo founder is challenging. And you don’t even realise until further down the line.
I am creative, resourceful and determined. I thought I could do it by myself as with everything in my life, but entrepreneurship doesn’t quite work like everything else. There is no straight path. Your success depends on multiple dimensions and many of them are out of your control. Your friends try to help, but they can’t. They don’t sit in the same boat as you.
Then I realised I’m not the only one experiencing this.
75% of female entrepreneurs are solo founders like myself, lacking scale and connections. That’s why we need a dedicated network to help us create new opportunities.
The network is age and industry agnostic and involves not just female entrepreneurs, but also a range of other stakeholders like corporates, universities and male supporters.
We need an inclusive eco-system to create tangible change and more successful female entrepreneurs.
If you would like to collaborate, sponsor or partner up, please feel free to get in touch. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to hear from you.
Very best wishes,
